Buttercup Barn Retreats

We stayed in this lovely little yurt, Olive in the Isle of Wight. It was fully equipped with everything we needed including: kitchen utensils, crockery, towels, games, tea and coffee, TV and we even had a hot tub. The hot tub was definitely a highlight where we could wind down and relax after an adventurous day. Another perk was that the garden was fully enclosed, allowing River to roam about freely.

The great thing about the Isle of Wight is that everything is so accessible, the furthest we had to travel was 40 minutes by car. We visited two dog friendly pubs, The Spyglass Inn and The Lifeboat. After going to the Spyglass Inn we explored the lovely little seaside town of Ventnor.

We visited Blackgang Chine, where we reminisced our childhood holidays. This is dog friendly which is perfect to bring every member of the family to a fun day out. Our favourite part was visiting the dinosaurs, River was very intrigued and confused by the animatronics.

We also visited The Needles which is a must. I would consider The Neddles being half dog friendly, as everything outdoors is considered dog friendly but dogs are not allowed in any shops. However, there's so much to do there, boat rides, hiking, vist the beach (all dog friendly) and lots of activities such as chairlift, sand shop, alum bay glass and sweet manufactury (which is not dog friendly). We took turns waiting with River outside so we could have a look at some of the shops.

One of our favourite days was spending the day at St Helens Becah. This beach was dog friendly all year round and it has a lovely little cafe, toilets and parking which was perfect. We spent the day paddleboarding which River enjoyed, as she loves to swim and run around the beach.

We traveled to the Isle of Wight by ferry. This was River's first time and she was such a good girl! Each ferry has a dog friendly section. The ferry trip was around 45 minutes from Portsmouth to Fishbourne.

Overall, this was a great trip. We were lucky to have nice weather with only one rainy day, although it was quite windy on most days but this didn't stop us from having an amazing time.
