Wool Washers Shepard’s Hut
Here we stayed in the Wools Washers Shepard’s Hut in South of Wales. This was an incredible stay with limited phone signal, a perfect off the grid trip.
We enjoyed many hikes and adventures (just as much as our evening rests). We had the opportunity to visit both glacial lakes Llyn y Fan Fach and Llyn y Fan Fawr in the Brecon Beacons. We even luged the paddle board up to have an amazing experience. River and I enjoyed our very first paddle on such a stunning lake and even braved an ice plunge in the cold water. Although River didn’t seem to mind!
We also hiked up Pen y Fan and Sugar Loaf Mountain. Unfortunately the higher we climbed Pen y Fan the worse the weather got. Although we did still enjoy the hike and we can officially say we’ve climbed the tallest mountain in South Wales!
Back at the Shepard’s Hut, River loved taking a dip in the stream right outside hut. Which provided some peaceful and calming ambient sound. There was a little hammock that I enjoyed laying in whilst listening to the soothing mini waterfall and watched River splash about. In the evening we sparked the BBQ and roasted marshmallows on the fire pit.
The hut was fully equipped with cutlery, crockery, bathroom and shower, heater, an amazing comfy bed, TV, wood for the fire pit and a gas BBQ. We were even greeted with a lovely bottle of Prosecco, which was a thoughtful perk. River spent the evenings sitting on the decking outside watching the sheep in field across and settled in her cozy bed after our long days.
We visited a local dog friendly pub the Lamb & Flag and enjoyed and nice meal. Which was well deserved after climbing Sugar Loaf Mountain. There was a town near by in Abergavenny with supermarkets to buy any food and essentials, which was useful.
Overall, our stay here was super dog friendly which is a must for us! Everyday was jam packed with exploring different elements of the Brecon Beacons.
